Here we have a very nice World War I German 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class that is in very good condition. It is a completely flat issue piece with a stove black, magnetic iron center and an attractively age toned silver frame. The iron center exhibits some thinning of the black finish but there is no rust present. The raised, serrated bead on the frame is very well defined and with crisp detail. The reverse is maker marked below the catch with an incised, “KO” for Königliches Münzamt Orden. The pin assembly is completely functional and of the classic World War I manufacture. There is no separation at the seam or any other problems with this cross. It remains an attractive example in very good condition.
