This is a very nice WWII German Luftwaffe enlisted man’s M43 hat that is in near mint condition. It is constructed of heavy Luftwaffe blue wool with two functional ear flap panels at the sides. These are held in position by two small pebbled buttons that are Luftwaffe blue painted. The upper button retains about 98% of the finish with the lower button approximately 75%. The Luftwaffe eagle at the front is meticulously hand sewn to the peak with the rayon national colors trapezoid being machine sewn in place. The interior is lined with a grayish/blue colored rayon material that is nicely stamped with the date, “1944”, an RB number, and the size, “57”. The front part of the sweatband area is slightly soiled from actual field use. The bill is with a few light folds as normally encountered on these. There is no damage to this hat at all and it remains an outstanding example in near mint condition.
