This is a very nice WWII German Model 1940 single decal army helmet that remains in complete and excellent condition. The exterior of the shell is with dark gray/green textured finished. The army decal on the left side remains approximately 95% complete and is with bright silver color on a dark black background. There has been a slight touch up on the swastika. The interior of the left-hand skirt is marked with the manufacture’s code, “NS” for the firm of Vereinigte Deutsche Nikelwerke and the centimeter size, “64”. The lot number “DN 95” is incised on the interior of the rear skirt. Painted in white on the interior of the rear skirt is the original owner’s name, “Hptm. Wittmer”. There are no dents, cracks or other damage to the shell. The interior has a complete leather lining that remains soft and pliable, with all the fingers undamaged and intact. The ink stamped with the size is there but illegible. The dome string at the finger tips is not present. The liner retaining rivets are factory tight and secure the lining tightly in the shell. The full leather chinstrap is attached to the bales at the sides of the liner. The tip of the long strap is stamped with the manufacture’s name and dated, “GUSTAV REINHARDT – BERLIN – 1936”. This is fine looking helmet that remains in original and excellent condition.
