Shepherd, Jr., Commanding the Sixth Marine Division, the original letter on Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps letterhead to the parents of PFC Wildish forwarding the posthumous Purple Heart Medal with copy, and the Presidential Memorial Certificate with original brown mailing envelope with the return address listed simply as, “The White House”..
The Type 3 Purple Heart on slot broach was awarded to U.S. Marine Corps casualties towards the end of the Second World War. As mentioned, this award is hand engraved in the proper style of the period and is suspended from its original, undamaged ribbon. It is with the flat purple enamel on the obverse side and numbered, “149905” along the lower, left-hand tip. The award certificate for the Purple Heart has been folded horizontally. The other documents exhibit some creasing, but all remain in very good, solid condition
