This is a beautiful U.S. World War II Navy/Marine Corps Silver Star Medal in its short, titled, black leatherette presentation case that is in near mint condition. The star planchet is of the thin variety and with a fine gold finish to both sides. It is suspended from its original ribbon, which remains crisp and near mint. The ribbon is mounted on a full wrap broach and complete with functional pin assembly. The medal is contained in a beautiful WWII Navy/Marine Corps short black leatherette presentation case and bears the title, “Silver Star Medal” in two lines on the outer lid. Accompanying this medal is a very nice ½ inch wide, pin back ribbon bar. This is a superb example of our nation’s third highest award for gallantry in combat action and one of the type that would have been presented to Navy and Marine personnel who distinguished themselves in any one of the many hard-fought campaigns in the Pacific during the Second World War.
