This is an extremely fine set of WWII U.S. Navy/Marine Corps sew-on ribbons that are in very good condition. The ribbons are the ½ inch Navy/Marine Corps type that are sewn directly to a 3 inch x 5 inch piece of the tropical tan wool uniform to which they were originally attached. The ribbons of the first row consist of the Silver Star Medal and the Legion of Merit with “V” device for valor, and a gilt star to indicate a second award. The second row consists of the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, the World War I Victory Medal with single bronze campaign star, and the 1915 Haitian Campaign Medal. The third row consists of the Yangtze Service Medal, the American Defense Medal with one bronze star for service in WWI and WWII, and the Pacific Theater of Operations Medal with 4 bronze campaign stars. The forth row consists of the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the U.S. Navy/Marine Corps Expert Rifle ribbon. This is a very fine set as worn by a salty old Leatherneck who saw a great deal of service and combat action during his long career.
